Practice Support : Accreditation

Accreditation was developed to enhance General Practice through a process of continuous quality improvement. The RACGP Standards aim to improve the quality of General Practice in an achievable and gradual manner. The Division offers support for practice accreditation and re-accreditation according to these standards and the continuing quality improvement process.

Goals
  1. Support to Practices in accreditation/re-accreditation preparation
  2. Provide research assistance, information and advice to meet accreditation/re-accreditation requirements
  3. Provide resources to support information needs
  4. Provide updates on accreditation matters
  5. Facilitate mock surveys on request
Practice Visits

Practices can arrange for a visit by Division staff for general advice or resource provision in relation to accreditation or re-accreditation. The Division also supports General Practices undergoing accreditation and re-accreditation by facilitating mock accreditation visits. Practices can request a mock survey visit where an Accreditation Surveyor and a Division Staff Member will visit the practice for a survey visit. In the past Practices advised that this has proven to be a valuable contribution to the whole General Practice Team by relieving the anxiety associated with the practice visit from the Accreditation Provider. Advice can also be provided by phone, fax and email.
