Aged Care Access Initiative
The Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) has again provided funding for the Aged Care Access Initiative (ACAI) for 2009 / 2010.
There are two components to the initiative:
1) ACAI _ GP Incentive Payment (PIP)
A payment of an incentive through the Practice Incentives Program (PIP) to encourage GPs to provide increased services to residents of Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs). This component is administered by Medicare Australia.
2) ACAI – Allied Health Care Component (AHCC)
A payment for clinical care provided by Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) to residents of RACFs, where these services are not currently covered by Medicare or other Government funding arrangements. This component is administered within our Divisional area by North West Slopes Division of General Practice in collaboration with General Practice NSW (GP NSW)
For the 2009 / 2010 ACAI program, three allied health services will be made available to residents of RACFs: Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Dietetics. The number of services available to residents has been determined by DoHA, in accordance with the number of facility beds.
