About NWSDGP

North West Slopes Division of General Practice is a not-for-profit company, endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Health Promotion Charity and a Deductible Gift Recipient. We are primarily funded by the Australian Government and are managed by a Board of Directors who are elected at our Annual General Meetings. With the exception of January, the Board meets on a monthly basis. The Division works for, supports and represents general practitioners who operate in the towns of Tamworth, Kootingal, Nundle, Quirindi, Walcha and Werris Creek.

As well as being a network of local general practitioners (GPs) linked together for the purpose of addressing local health issues, the Division also engages consumer and community representatives and encourages a multi-disciplinary team approach to service delivery by supporting practice nurses and practice staff.

Also consistent with its strong local focus, the Division actively fosters a positive relationship with all relevant local health providers as well as Hunter New England Area Health Service and endeavours to work collaboratively whenever possible. Such associations enable the Division to contribute to and influence the direction of primary health care service development and delivery in a more effective manner.

In 2007 the Division was granted accreditation by the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS) using the Quality for Divisions Network Guide. This accreditation is current until 23rd October 2010.
